With July coming to a close, Miller wanted to share with you some of our key highlights and achievements across the business over the last month:
Team Success
Miller | NGDF, our newest facility in Australia, has continued to develop our product and service offerings. One key factor contributing to our success is the expertise brought by our dedicated employee, Sean Congo, who made a bold move from Miller UK to Australia stepping into the role of Workshop Manager. Sean’s invaluable knowledge and expertise have played a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining high-quality standards, earning the trust of our customers and reinforcing our reputation as a reliable partner in the industry.
This month, we are saying a big congratulations to our Marketing Executive, Lucy Ross-Knight as she graduated from Newcastle University with a First-Class Honours degree in Marketing Management. Lucy joined Miller as an intern in 2021, completing a 12-month placement with the business. Having massively impressed with both her skill set and enthusiasm to drive Miller’s marketing activities forward, Lucy was offered a permanent role with Miller.
As our first marketing intern qualifies, we welcome a new intern Laura Marsden, from Newcastle University, into the department to assist with our global marketing activities and bring new knowledge to the table.
Team Building and Strategic Development
Throughout July, we have been actively engaged in conducting comprehensive training sessions across all departments at Miller, starting with our Senior Management Team. This month they have been focused on hosting strategic sessions, fostering team-building activities and implementing mindfulness techniques in order to devise a clear plan to continue our growth worldwide.
Global Projects
Our attachments have been spotted around the globe, starting with a prestigious project at Blenheim Palace using Land & Waters’ Komatsu PC 290 excavators, fit with our couplers, which involved dredging the Queen’s Pool.
Our attachments also made an appearance at Villa Park Stadium supporting the World Supercross Championship 2023. Tru 7 Group – with the help of our buckets – sculpted over 7000 tonnes of soil into an intricate circuit all for the British Grand Prix.
Our tilting coupler, the GTT – which offers 180˚ tilt rotation – continues to be a success across the globe, with companies such as TDX LTD, New Zealand, installing the GTT to use in challenging hill work.
Site Solutions
In July, we successfully completed a range of diverse projects showcasing our expertise in heavy machinery repairs and refurbishments. Among the notable projects were the refurbishment and manufacture of a crusher bucket for Sirius Plant. Additionally, we managed the replacement of the EC750 loan bucket with a fully refurbished EC750 bucket, ensuring a seamless transition between attachments.
Another significant project involved the arrival of a 40-tonne digging bucket in need of repair, which we completed with a fast turnaround and to a high standard. Lastly our proficiency in equipment repair extended to a 6-Tonne JCB dumper, which was expertly fixed and brought back into operation.
Training and Development
As we continue to upskill our workforce, extensive training sessions have taken place across the business. Training delivered has included: working safely with overhead cranes, IOSH Working Safely, Iosh Managing Safely, Electrical Awareness, IET Wiring Regulations, Tig Welding, Project Management Fundamentals, Essential Digitals, Advanced Digital, PCN Level 2 in Penetrant Testing.
By providing the correct training opportunities, we provide our employees with the right resources to excel in their roles.
Charity and CSR
This month, we continued with our charity efforts helping our chosen charity for 2023 – Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter. Our efforts focused on enhancing their facilities with the refurbishment of six new kennels and the repair of their main gate.
Additionally, we had the pleasure of celebrating Ashbrook’s significant milestone of 25 years in business and its 1400th machine from CAT. Ashbrook dedicated a CAT 308 next-gen excavator to raise money for Cancer research. To show our solidarity with Ashbrook and Cancer Research, we are proud to have donated £500 to the cause.
We are passionate about making a difference in communities worldwide. That’s why we have donated a Miller bucket and coupler to assist with the building of a brand-new yoga facility in India, for the Isha Foundation.
