An Insight into Miller’s Plans at ScotPlant 2024 – with Stephen McMahon

An Insight into Miller’s Plans at ScotPlant 2024 - with Stephen McMahon

Set to be the very biggest show in its history, Scotplant – Scotland’s largest construction equipment exhibition – is just around the corner! With Miller exhibiting at the show since its inception, we took the opportunity to catch up with our Business Development Manager, Stephen McMahon, also known as ‘Macca’, who has been with Miller for 27 years and is a seasoned visitor to the show, having been to every one since it first started.

Thank you, Macca, for joining us today. Before we get into the show, could you give a brief overview of your role at Miller?

“I like to think over my 20 years’ experience I’ve become a specialist in excavator attachments, so my main responsibility is to liaise with OEM’s, OEDs, and end-users to ensure they have the right attachments to get the job done efficiently and effectively.”

Could you tell us what sets Miller’s excavator buckets and couplers apart from others in the market?

“One of the key factors that sets Miller apart is our dedication to quality and innovation. We understand that in the industry, reliability and performance are paramount. That’s why each of our excavator buckets and couplers is engineered to the highest standards, using cutting-edge technology and the strongest materials available. Our products undergo rigorous testing to ensure they can withstand the toughest conditions on the job site, providing our customers with the peace of mind that their projects are running smoothly.”

With Scotplant just around the corner, what can attendees expect from Miller at the exhibition?

“Scotplant is always an exciting event for us, as it provides a great opportunity to connect with both existing and potential customers in the construction industry. This year, attendees can expect to see a wide range of our latest buckets and couplers on display, showcasing what we can produce with the latest investments we’ve made into our manufacturing facilities.

We’re bringing an almost 100% robot welded bucket, unpainted so that visitors can see first-hand the quality of our welds. We’re confident enough to say that our welding is the very best on the market – and this is something that we want to show off. What’s more, through having such state-of-the-art technology to deliver such impressive welding, we have significantly increased our production capabilities meaning we have short lead times on our products, offering quick delivery for our customers. ”

Will there be any new product launches this year?

“We’ve just launched our Ready to Dig Bundles, tailored to machines ranging from 1 to 20t. At Scotplant, we’re showcasing both mini and midi sets, each comprising either our GTS or GTX quick coupler paired with a set of buckets used in conjunction together. Ideal for dealers, these bundles are a cost-effective solution – with up to 20% savings made when purchased all together – and with them being so easy to store means they can be held in stock to sell with our customers machines. We’ve seen these be a huge success so far with our customers, and we anticipate a similar reaction at Scotplant, where we’re offering exclusive show specials, making the bundles even more affordable.”

And finally, how do you think the show has changed over the years?

“Every year, apart from the pandemic and the show’s first year back, Scotplant just gets bigger and better. It’s fantastic to see first-hand new and exciting innovations that are really driving our industry and I love to see new equipment that is being launched. I’ve always found the event an excellent opportunity to network and I’m pretty sure this year will be no exception!”
