As part of our commitment to continually drive our manufacturing processes and streamline operations, Miller has recently invested over £500,000 in upgrading our machine shop facilities in the UK. This has seen the introduction of a new Doosan H1000 horizontal machining centre which will further enhance the precision, efficiency and safety in our manufacturing.

With new equipment this provided an opportunity to upskill our staff within the machine shop. Several team members have successfully completed their Fanuc31i system programming course with leading training provider Mills CNC Training Academy.

Designed for horizontal machining, the Doosan HM1000 Machining Centre further compliments our horizontal and vertical machining units, which include MAZAK 630, HULLER HILLIE nbh 350 and MAZAK V655.

The Doosan HM1000 is equipped with:

  • A spindle capable of speeds up to 4500 RPM. This feature, combined with an advanced control system, minimises vibrations and thermal distortions, ensuring the highest machining accuracy;
  • High torque gearbox spindle, box-type guideways, and high rigidity cast structure for a higher productivity;
  • A rapid traverse rate of up to 18 meters per minute, allowing for faster material removal and reduced cycle times;
  • A high-speed automatic pallet changer streamlining operations and increasing productivity;
  • The latest CNC technology, including Fanuc31i programming, enabling intricate and complex geometries to be machined with precision and ease.

Now in full operation, by leveraging the Doosan HM1000’s advanced technology, Miller has bolstered our capabilities with our late dedicated stock allowing us to improve the lead times on our attachments which forms part of our commitment to deliver the very highest levels of customer service.
