MILLER UK ACHIEVES ‘MAINTAINING EXCELLENCE’ STANDARD IN THE BETTER HEALTH AT WORK AWARD
We’re proud to announce that Miller has achieved the ‘Maintaining Excellence’ standard in the Better Health at Work Award, a testament to our ongoing commitment to creating a healthier workplace.
Exclusive to the North East of England, the Better Health at Work Award encourages employers to embed health and wellbeing into everyday practice. As we continue to grow across the globe, we want to ensure the wellbeing of our team remains at the centre of everything we do.
In our fourth year of climbing the Better Health at Work ranks, we have implemented a series of new and informative initiatives this year, including, and to name a few:
- Partnering with the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, the only charity in the UK to support the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families; This provided our employees with access to a wide range of resources provided by the charity;
- Onboarded a team of staff to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, who completed this under 12 hours, whilst raising vital funds for the Lighthouse Charity;
- Welcomed mental health organisations, such as Andy’s Man Club and the Lighthouse Charity, into Miller HQ to deliver engaging and informative sessions on the support available;
- Circulated local walking routes as part of a lunch time initiative relating to ‘Good for the Body, Good for the Mind’ campaign;
- Provided regular engaging email campaigns on current health and wellbeing topics;
- Attended local Better Health at Work networking events to share best practice.
Cameron Armstrong, our dedicated Health Improvement Specialist Practitioner from Northumberland County Council said: “Miller’s commitment to employee wellbeing is consistently strong. They have demonstrated that, with strong leadership support, a workplace can become a hub for health and wellbeing. Having worked closely with Miller for over four years now, I am continually impressed by their innovative approach to initiatives that actively engage their workforce, an example from which other businesses could greatly benefit.”
Reflecting on the process, our Financial Accountant and Health Advocate, Jonathon Hall, added:
“I’m excited to explore new ways to keep wellbeing at the forefront of our team’s culture next year. The past year has shown us the importance of maintaining a healthy and supportive work environment, and I believe that continued focus on employee wellbeing is important for both personal and professional growth. We already have some exciting things in the pipeline which I think will be beneficial for our entire workforce.”
With plans to expand our Health Advocate network and attend events, such as the Sustainable Business Wellbeing forum, we will be working towards maintaining our new standard whilst continuing to embed health and wellbeing into our workforce.
